FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Miami, FL — December 20, 2024 — The Miami VIS, South Florida’s para-fictional WNBA team, is proud to announce that Najja Moon has been named General Manager of the Year for the 2024 season. This recognition comes on the heels of an extraordinary year of growth, determination, and achievement for the Miami VIS under Moon’s leadership.

Moon took the reins of the Miami VIS at its inception in January 2024, and transformed the team into a blinding force throughout the regular season. Building a full roster of South Florida hoopers, Moon’s keen eye for talent was evident in her ability to assemble a competitive and cohesive squad. The team featured a mix of seasoned players, including one former WNBA standout, two former professional players, and a lineup of local stars who passed the eye test with their standout performances at Jose Marti Park.

The Miami VIS made the leap from a lower level of play to the elite division this season, a move that showcased Moon’s confidence in her team’s potential. The previously unranked VIS defied expectations, finishing 3rd in the league after a nail-biting semifinal loss to the eventual champions on a buzzer-beater.

Moon’s efforts didn’t stop there. Following their league performance, the Miami VIS claimed redemption and a title in the 3×3 championship. This impressive win came just one season after a narrow 2nd-place finish, solidifying the team’s reputation as a dominant force in the sport.

“Najja Moon’s leadership and vision have been nothing short of transformative for the Miami VIS,” said Jaki Goldner, CEO of the Miami VIS. “Her ability to recognize and cultivate talent, build a winning culture, and bring our team to new heights is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the game. This honor is well-deserved, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for the Miami VIS under her guidance.”
